This week, I spent a lot of time working on my assignment, and I feel like I made some good progress. In addition to my coursework, I also did some reading on interactive documentaries and participation in media. "Participation that Makes a Difference and Disparities in Participation" by Anna Wiehl was one of the publications I read. I found the essay to be incredibly intriguing and it provided me with some fresh ideas for involving audiences documentaries.Wiehl argues that participation can be a powerful tool for creating social change, as it allows people to engage with issues and ideas in a more meaningful and transformative way. Wiehl also highlights the role of Katherina Cizek as a facilitator rather than a director in her documentaries, thus enabling greater participation
This week's reading also introduced me to Katherine Cizek's use of Psychogeography in her high-rise documentaries to investigate the connection between urban location and social behaviour. The concept of psychogeography is intriguing because it underlines how much human experience and perception influence how we perceive the built environment. I learned that the foundation of Psychogeography is the notion that the physical locations around us has a tremendous influence on human consciousness and that exploring the places in novel ways can help reveal the ways in which the city impacts our perceptions and experiences of the world. I'm eager to learn more about how psychogeography may be utilised to produce unique and powerful documentary experiences, and I look forward to implementing what I learn into my interactive website
